Prepare your child for encounters with gangs by talking to them ahead of time.  You can ask them some simple questions like:

  • Have you heard anything about gangs?
  • What do you know about gangs?
  • How do you feel about gangs?
  • Do you know anyone who is in a gang?
  • Has anyone in a gang ever talked to you or tried to get you to join?

Warn your children to be very careful when it comes to gangs! Gang members get into trouble with the police, frequently get hurt, and sometimes even die from gang violence. Being prepared to protect your child is important and a child locator device can help you do this.
